Laws and Regulations
Migration Act, 1958 (as ammended)
This is the basis for all applications, dictates who can and cannot stay in Australia, health criteria, conditions for appealing decisions, etc. The act provides the framework for immigration and border control, but the regulations (see below) dictate who qualifies and who doesn't.
Migration Regulations (as ammended)
Takes time to read but has all the information needed to make an application and answer most questions related to applications such as application criteria including details about the points test, conditions for granting or denying visas, who counts as a family member etc. Possibly the most important text anyone who needs a clarification on any aspect of the visa application process.
Ammendments to the Migration Regulations not included above [ 2002 No. 347 ] [ 2002 No. 348 ] [ 2002 No. 354 ]
This includes important changes to business visas that will take place in March 2003 (2002 No. 348).
